About SCS
Semiconductor Consulting Services, Inc. was founded in the fall of 1997 by former Integrated Circuit Engineering (ICE) executives Jim Griffin and Dick Potter. The goal of SCS is to provide the finest semiconductor consulting, training services and publications available.

With a combined base of more than 60 years of experience in semiconductor engineering, management, consulting and education, the SCS, Inc. team has developed a new series of seminars design ed to provide a sound foundation of technology for anyone involved in the semiconductor industry.

SCS, Inc. maintains a commitment to ensure that all its offerings are the most comprehensive and technically current seminars and publications available in the industry.

The principles of SCS, Jim Griffin and Dick Potter were formerly the senior consulting staff for Integrated Circuit Engineering (ICE). With a combined total of over 60 years of semiconductor experience, Jim and Dick were the people at ICE most responsible for creating and teaching ICE's well regarded technical seminar series.

Jim Griffin

Jim Griffin is a co-founder and principal of Semiconductor Consulting Services, Inc., a company formed in 1997. SCS, Inc. was formed with a vision to provide education and consulting for the semiconductor industry, its users, and suppliers.

Prior to establishing SCS, Inc., Mr. Griffin was Vice President Microelectronics Consulting at Integrated Circuit Engineering Corp. In thirteen years at ICE his responsibilities included all technical consulting, training and publications.

After graduating from the University of Wisconsin with a BSEE, he worked for several years as a design engineer in control systems at Square D Company.

Mr. Griffin has been in the semiconductor industry over 30 years. In that time he held several positions in operations management at Motorola Semiconductor Products, as well as Director of Information Systems at the company.

His recent experience includes software consulting, strategic business planning, and Intellectual Property litigation analysis.

Mr. Griffin's educational background includes graduate courses in Electrical Engineering and training at the Motorola Executive Institute.

Dick Potter


We deeply regret that we have to inform our customers that Dick Potter has passed away. Dick was not only one of our principles, but our friend as well. We will miss his technical acumen, fine sense of humor and most of all his friendship.

Training
SCS is offering six technical seminars. Each seminar has been created and is continually updated to be the most comprehensive and up-to-date training available in the industry. The six seminars are:
If you have ever wondered what IBM's copper interconnect announcement really means to the industry, how the forthcoming Intel Itanium differs from a Pentium 4 or about all the types of DRAM's: SDRAM, RDRAM, VRAM, WRAM, etc. these are the courses you have been looking for.

Participants in our seminars each receive a complete set of the overheads used to teach the course as well as having an opportunity to directly interact with our instructors. Our instructors have managed semiconductor fabrication facilities, semiconductor divisions of top ten semiconductor manufacturers and have served as semiconductor process engineering managers.

At this time each of the seminars that we offer are only available for in-house presentation at your facility. Each of these seminars can also be customized to meet your company's specific training needs.
