Introduction
This brand new Semiconductor Silicon Demand Forecast presents a forecast of total silicon demand through 2029. Included in the forecast is total semiconductor revenue by year as well as IC and discrete revenue. Total silicon demand and silicon demand by wafer size. Detailed breakouts are also provided for 300mm wafers by product type and linewidth with forecasts of wafers, new fabs and fab upgrades. Similar sheets are provided for 450mm. This product is ideally suited to use in conjunction with our Strategic Cost Model to produce equipment forecasts.
Who should buy this product
This product is designed to serve the needs of companies interested in forward projections of silicon demand.
Revision history
The following is the revision history for the Semiconductor Silicon Demand Forecast:
Revision 1200 - updated 450mm ramp to initially be based on announced and expected fabs and later to ramp up at the same rate as 300mm as a percentage of total industry capacity. Updated 2000 through 2012 actual fabs based on 300mm and 450mm Watch revision 1200. Updated total silicon demand forecast formulas. Updated 2011 total silicon demand forecast based on new SEMI data. Updated historical data by wafer size. Added ASIC linewidth and operating fab calculations back to 2001, this is needed to feed into our materials forecasting model. Updated 2012 and 2013 revenue growth forecasts. Adjusted IC and discrete MSIs to account for less than 100% coverage by SiCAS. Adjusted 300mm starts to adjust for less than 100% coverage by SiCAS. Combined 300mm and 450mm sheets and reformatted throughout. Added new summary graphs by product type, wafer size, half-pitch and year. Updated total semiconductor revenue forecast. Added descriptive text at the bottom of many of the worksheets. Adjusted 150mm and 200mm ramp downs. Slowed down new 1/2 pitch introductions in later years. DRAM is now yearly until 20nm, every second year until 10nm and then every third year. Flash is now yearly until 10nm and then it is every second year until 8nm, after 8nm it is every third year. Adjusted how new fabs are calculated to insure new fabs are the latest technology.
